STATEN ISLAND RAPID TRANSIT

The Staten Island Rapid Transit was originally operated by the B&O Railroad. The all of these photos were taken before and just after the MTA took control of the line.

SIRT
SIRT The cars in this photo were built in the 1920's and are similar to the BMT Standards. This train is in St. George. This photo was taken in 1967, long before the MTA took control of the line.
SIRT The interior of the cars were unlike the BMT cars. The RR style reversable seats and door controls were significant differences.
SIRT After the MTA took over SIRT and added OA to its name, the equipment shortage was relieved by borrowing some MP72's from the LIRR. Here a train of LIRR cars lay over at Tottenville during the 1972 NRHS New York convention.
